Meet David Alaba’s Yoruba father who was a DJ Before he left Nigeria

Bayern Munich defender, David Alaba may have been a full fledged Austrian international but he still quite has Nigerian blood running in his vein. The left-back/ centre back was born to a Nigerian father of the Yoruba tribe and a Filipino mother.

His father George Alaba is a renowned Crown Prince in Ogere, Ogun State, Nigeria. George was sent by his Royal parents to study abroad, Vienna University Of Economics And Business, Austria to be precise.

Before leaving the country, George had already laid his hands on some crafts in the Nigerian music industry. He used to be a DJ then and the highlight of it was working with the likes of the legendary Late Majek Fashek.

The plan for George Alaba was to return to Nigeria after his education in Austria. That was far back in 1984. But as fate would have it, George is still in Austria till date.

George was about finishing his studies in Vienna in 1988 when he came in contact with Gina, a nurse from the Philippines. Long story cut short, they loved each other, settled down together. Gina today is the mother of David Alaba and his kid sister, Rose May Alaba.
