Alizé Cornet insulted by the haters: here is her answer

It was following the match at the Egyptian Mayar Sherif that Cornet became the subject of numerous online threats from those who had bet on her and were disappointed.

After being defeated in the second round of Wimbledon by the Australian Ajla Tomljanovic, the thirty-one years-old Alizè Cornet took part in the Olympic tournament in Tokyo, where she immediately went out in the women's singles against the Czech Karolina Pliskova, and in the second round in the women's doubles draw paired with Fiona Ferro.

Arrived to compete at the Winners Open in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, the French, seeded number 1 of the event, was beaten by surprise in the first match by the Egyptian Mayar Sherif with a score of 6-2 6-4 . It was following this match that Cornet became the subject of numerous online threats from those who had bet on her and were disappointed.

Nothing to do with the true spirit of sport, of course, as the result of shameful attacks, blameworthy and to be condemned without delay.

Alizé Cornet insulted by the haters: here is her answer
"It seems that the mental health of athletes is something in step with the times," wrote the player from Nice on Twitter, reporting a whole series of threats.

"We understand better why! Long live sports bettors." Alizé managed to play the round of 16 in all Grand Slam tournaments, reaching 11th position in the WTA world rankings in 2009. In her career she won six major tour titles: Budapest, Bad Gastein, Strasbourg, Katowice, Hobart and Gstaad.
Cornet is currently the best transalpine player in the standings: today she occupies the 59th step, ahead of compatriots Kristina Mladenovic (60th), Caroline Garcia (68th), Fiona Ferro (83rd) and Clara Burel (98th). Cornet went on to win the Fed Cup two years ago when France beat Australia in the final 3-2.

The next edition of the Flushing Meadows Us Open will start on August 30th and end on September 12th. The Austrian Dominic Thiem and the Japanese Naomi Osaka will be called to defend the title, both of whom have not been at their best in recent times.
