Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic doesn't believe the club have a chance of signing Lionel Messi, branding the move unthinkable given the salary involved.
Messi will leave Barcelona after over 20 years at the club as the Blaugrana are unable to keep the No.10 at the club and adhere to LaLiga's financial fair play regulations. As a result, the player is available on a free transfer.
"Unfortunately, it's not possible [to sign Messi]," Salihamidzic told Sport1 shortly after Messi had held his farewell press conference on Sunday. "We have not entered negotiations. Signing Messi is unthinkable, even without a transfer fee."
Turning his attention to another forward, Salihamidzic also hinted at Bayern Munich's interest in Borussia Dortmund's Erling Haaland.
"Of course [we are interested], he is a very good young player," Salihamidzic said. "So you have to pay attention. He is a first-rate player that everyone loves."
