Man City star Phil Foden's mum punched in face backstage at Khan vs Brook clash

Phil Foden and his entourage appeared to get caught up in an ugly scrap while backstage at the Amir Khan vs Kell Brook fight in Manchester on Saturday evening.

Footage began circulating early on Sunday morning showing the Manchester City forward backstage at the AO Arena.

The video begins with Foden being walked into a private area before his female counterpart turns around to confront a group of men standing outside the room.

The young woman turns to the collective and asks which one of them yelled the word "c***" at the footballer.

Foden's mother Claire then exits the room before shoving one of the men while telling the group to "f*** off".

A fight then ensues, with punches thrown from both sides as people spill into the narrow corridor.

Foden's mum was struck in the face during the brawl.

The City star, dressed in a white top and blue jacket, appears to briefly step into the corridor while the melee is taking place.

One of the men who stepped out of Foden's private area picks up a fire extinguisher and swings it at the opposite group as they retreat.

It is unclear when the ugly incident took place but Brook's ring walk song 'All of the Lights' by Kanye West can be heard over the speakers in footage captured.

Following the release of the footage, Greater Manchester Police said: "GMP are aware of a video circulating on social media showing a disturbance at the AO arena last night (19 February 2022). We are conducting some further enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident."

City have said they are "shocked and appalled" at the footage that has circulated online.

A statement on their website read: "The club is aware of a video which has circulated on social media showing Phil Foden and his family being harassed and abused. We are shocked and appalled about the nature of the abuse and ensuing assault on one of Phil’s family members.

"We will continue to give Phil and his family all the support and assistance they need."

The England international was at the highly-anticipated boxing event just hours after City were beaten 3-2 at home to Tottenham.

Foden played the entirety of the tie as his side lost out in the 95th minute.
