Veteran fullback Daniel Alves has already played his way to a new contract at Barcelona.
Marca says when Alves returned to Barcelona, he signed a contract until the summer but it contained an option for an additional year.
With the Catalan club happy with the right-back's performance, they will trigger that option and this means the Brazilian will be committed to the club until the summer of 2024.
Even though Alves reached his agreement to return to Barcelona in November, he couldn't play for the Blaugrana until January. In the two months since then, he has played six matches and has impressed, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
Despite being 38 years old, Alves has been very useful for Xavi Hernandez, the current coach and former teammate of the full-back.
The Catalan knows how best to use Alves and isn't making him cover the entire right flank, aware that he doesn't have the legs to do that anymore. He is either playing as a winger, or behind a winger who can cover more ground.
