Bayern Munich star tipped to replace Harry Maguire at Manchester United

The Englishman was of course signed for big money from Leicester City, but has, for the most part, struggled to prove he was worth the £80m transfer fee.

Maguire, as he has shown for England, can be a useful asset with the right players/system around him. But at United, especially this season, things have not gone great for the centre-back.

Just last month it was claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo and the English international were embroiled in a power struggle over the United captaincy.

Reports at the beginning of March then claimed that Maguire has upset a number of teammates this season both by openly blaming them on the pitch for making mistakes, and through some of his critical post-match comments to the media.

These reports were followed by fans pointing out that Maguire was nutmegged on both occasions for Manchester City’s opening two goals in the most recent Manchester derby.

Then, this weekend vs Tottenham, Harry Maguire would score an own goal. His mistake on that occasion did not end up costing Manchester United who won the tie 3-2, but it is still unlikely to have improved United fan’s view of the defender at present.

Hernandez to Manchester United?

Now, Spanish outlet Fichajes, as cited by Goal, report that Manchester United are a potential destination for Bayern Munich centre-back Lucas Hernandez.

It is added that the Red Devils are said to be considering their options with Maguire struggling to find form, and Hernandez is believed to be open to a move outside Germany.

The defender is under contract in Munich until 2024. No potential transfer fee is mentioned in the report.
